The Master Cleanse has been a source of controversy since it has been introduced to the public. It seems that there is a large amount of people denouncing the practice while the same number of people are swearing by it.

If you are interested in cleansing your colon and gettinf rid of the harmful materials in your body, then chances are you have already heard of this method. Of course, more often than not, the people who are going for the Master Cleanse method are those who want to lose weight. Since the celebrity Beyonce Knowles has made it known that she used the diet to lose weight, a high amount of people have been trying the same thing.

The question is, is the Master Cleanse safe?

Some physicians and dieticians do not think so. For them, the whole process is a dangerous venture that could pose serious health risks to a person. This is because although the Cleanse offers various benefits, there are also a multitude of side efffects attached to it. Problems like headaches, stomach pains and frequent urinations are only some of the effects that the Master Cleanse can bring out during the ten day diet. Some even say that long term side effects are also possible with the method.

Of course, the amount of benefits are also there. By flushing out the toxins in the body, a person basically ensures that their system is once again operating at top form. Without the large amount of accumulated food and toxins in the stomach, no chances of bacteria or any other damage caused by the chemicals is possible.

So do the benefits outweigh the odds?

From what I can see, yes. However, this is said in consideration of a person’s current health prior to the diet. Master Cleanse is a drastic diet that totally wipes out solid food from a person’s daily intake — thus depriving them of necessary nutrients. If you are relatively healthy, then the Master Cleanse would be no problem for you. Just make sure to get your doctors approval prior to undertaking the diet.

At the same time, the strict instructions for the Master Cleanse must be followed at all costs. After ten days, the diet must be stopped or it will really pose serious risks to a person.
